If you've shipped an iOS app in the last decade you've felt the pain: every Apple device generation adds a new screenshot size, and the App Store rejects uploads that don't match. This guide is the canonical 2026 reference — copy the numbers below and you'll never get a "screenshot dimensions don't match" rejection.
iPhone screenshot sizes (required)
Apple still requires you to upload screenshots in at least one of two iPhone sizes. The 6.7" set is the modern standard; the 5.5" set covers older devices and is being phased out.
- iPhone 6.7" (15 Pro Max, 14 Pro Max, 13 Pro Max) — 1290 × 2796 px portrait, 2796 × 1290 px landscape. Aspect 9:19.5.
- iPhone 6.5" (XS Max, 11 Pro Max) — 1242 × 2688 px portrait, 2688 × 1242 px landscape. Auto-scales from 6.7" since 2023.
- iPhone 5.5" (8 Plus and earlier) — 1242 × 2208 px portrait. Aspect 9:16. Optional since 2024 but recommended for legacy reach.
iPad screenshot sizes
- iPad Pro 12.9" (3rd–6th gen) — 2048 × 2732 px portrait. Aspect 3:4.
- iPad Pro 11" / iPad Air — auto-scales from 12.9".
Apple Watch & Apple TV
- Apple Watch — 410 × 502 px (Series 7+).
- Apple TV — 1920 × 1080 px landscape.
- Mac (Catalyst apps) — 1280 × 800 px to 2880 × 1800 px.
Aspect ratios at a glance
When you're designing in Figma or generating with an AI tool, the aspect ratio matters more than the absolute pixel count — Apple will scale, but it won't recompose. Lock the aspect first, then upscale.
- iPhone 6.7" — 9:19.5 (≈0.461). The hardest aspect to render natively because most generators top out at 9:16.
- iPhone 5.5" — 9:16 (0.5625). Common in stock generators.
- iPad — 3:4 (0.75).
Common rejection causes
- Wrong pixel dimensions — even one pixel off triggers a rejection.
- Status-bar artifacts — never copy your phone's actual status bar (battery %, time, notifications). Use 9:41 + full bars + full battery.
- Apple-owned marks — "Editor's Choice", App Store badge, App Design Award. Auto-rejected.
- Unverifiable superlatives — "#1", "Best", "Award-winning" without a source.
- Localized text leaking — French screenshot with English UI inside the phone bezel.
Recommended workflow
The fastest path: generate a single 1290 × 2796 master, render it for the 6.7" set, and let Apple auto-scale to other iPhone sizes. For iPad, render a separate 2048 × 2732 master. ASOshots automates exactly this — drop your raw captures, get every required size in one batch.
Stop hand-rolling App Store screenshots.
